A NOTE ABOUT CONDENSATION:
Condensation naturally occurs in an aftermarket light through an interaction between moisture from components in the light and the heat generated by activating the LEDs.
When the light is turned on, the lamp temperature increases, creating thermal convection. The cooler air from the plastics and other components in the lamp housing release moisture, mixing with the air inside the light. Mist naturally forms and attaches to the coolest area of the lamp – the lens.
How to fix it? After you turn off your light, the temperature inside and outside the light will balance. Depending on exterior temperatures, the mist should discharge through the light’s breather or vent. Condensation does not typically cause damage to the light.
Misting, fogging or small droplets of moisture will evaporate on its own and does not cause damage to the light. This is not a manufacturer’s defect.
Water pooling and the appearance of large droplets may present a different case. This is typically caused by damage to the light housing or a leak in the light’s seal. The cause of the damage or a manufacturer’s defect the light and may be cause for a warranty claim.
What do I do next? Take a picture of the light from a couple of different angles to show the full extent of the moisture. Send those pictures to: sales@brightsource.ca. We will assess your concern and get back with you as soon as possible.
